Bank of China issued national currency notes of places in 1 yuan, 5 yuan and 10 yuan printed by American Bank Note Company in 1918. The place names were printed in the shade of the notes without the characters of "Redeemable Notes". This batch of notes was issued in different places with part of the issuance shifting from one place to another, for example, "Beijing Local Notes Substituted for Shanghai Local Notes", "Harbin Local Notes Substituted for Shanghai Local Notes", "Beijing Local Notes Substituted for Tianjin Local Notes" and "Zhangjiakou Local Notes Substituted for Tianjin Local Notes". Such shifting of banknote issuing places was a feature of Bank of China banknote issuance during that period of time.
